The boards can be used as a party food board, serving board, or tapas board. While many names are used, they are all more or less the same thing. A rustic serving board on which you can serve delicious small dishes. Meat, cheese, dips, vegetables, or salty snacks, this beautiful serving board can showcase all kinds of food! This Wood Works serving board is made of sustainably sourced Longan wood. The Longan tree is a fruit tree which, when it stops producing fruit, is normally only processed into firewood. Because we believe this is a waste, Skottsberg turns these trees into beautiful serving boards. They are sawn from a single piece of wood and are therefore extremely strong, compared with wood that is glued together. Both sides of the serving boards can be used and they have two milled handles. The sawmill has already applied two coatings of Tung oil to each serving board. This drying, protective oil is completely food safe and makes the serving boards water repellent. Skottsberg Tung oil is also available separately so that you can properly maintain the serving board for a lifetime of use. This Woodworks serving board is 35 18 x 3 cm.

Our Skottsberg Wood Works wooden boards were treated with two coatings of thinned or non-diluted Tung oil at the sawmill. This Tung oil has been deeply absorbed into the wood, so you can use the serving boards immediately. Skottsberg Tung oil is a durable, 100% pure, natural oil. Tung oil, also known as - ‘Chinese wood oil ‘, is made from the seeds of the Tung tree and has been used in Asia for over 2,000 years for finishing wooden ships, as the oil makes the wood water-repellent. Today, Tung oil is used for many things including protecting wooden worktops, floors, furniture, and our Skottsberg wooden serving and cutting boards. Tung oil is a drying oil that soaks into the wood. Tung oil does not discolour the wood, is food safe, and is water repellent after drying. That makes Tung oil the best natural finish in existence for wood. It makes your wood livelier and gives it a very nice matt to silky gloss finish.

If you would like to give your serving board an extra protective layer after frequent use, then you can! Lightly sand the surface, make it completely dust-free and rub the Tung oil onto the board with a lint-free cloth. After about fifteen minutes, remove the excess oil and repeat this again after an hour. The board will need between a few hours to a maximum of a day to dry completely. Tung oil is best stored in a dark place and make sure to always close the bottle tightly. Oxygen causes the oil to dry out.
