For the love of tea

15 April 2016

Us Brits are still very much a Nation of tea drinkers with an incredible 165 million cups drank every day. And the trend for brewing fresh infusions over a traditional tea bag continues to grow in popularity. Not only thanks to the incredible mix of flavours and tastes out there to enjoy, but also because of the various health and wellbeing benefits associated with certain tea leaves. Taking a moment to enjoy a cup of the finest is of course one of life’s great pleasures – especially when a few sweet-treats are popped onto the table to enjoy over a catch-up with friends too!

Research published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition also dispels the common belief that tea dehydrates, with some experts arguing that drinking three or more cups of tea a day is as good for you as drinking plenty of water. According to the bbc news report tea not only hydrates, but also protects against heart disease and some cancers. The antioxidants found in tea leaves have been shown to help prevent cell damage in the body and support the immune systems defences in fighting disease. Surprisingly tea also contains fluoride meaning a cup of your favourite brew is also good for your teeth and gum health.

The feel-good factor from drinking tea regularly doesn’t stop there either, here is a top 10 rundown on all the benefits from today.com
